pleasantly surprised

Life took me on other journeys over the past year, away from blogging.  It’s useful though by offering fresh views on modern nutrition.  Love it!

I continue to discover how vitamins and minerals and modern supplements are the answer to many of our problems.  Usage means stronger bodies before anything can go wrong and then usage also means power to fight when something does.

Malabsorption.  Ever heard of it?  It’s common.  The body’s digestive tract is a mess for many people.  If there are GI problems, perhaps better supplementation will strengthen the body, be available for production of enzymes, cell generation.  Then the strength total will be greater.  Meaning, the body will better metabolize foods, have building blocks for immune cells, would healing, energy production.

Vitomatic SuperPowder is a dreamy product for helping many body functions in a small dose.

Food Modifications

Genetically Modified Foods describes foods of our times.  It’s science and agriculture and food production all blended into a concept of let’s figure out how to make farming and food production work differently, more efficiently.  There are benefits here.  There are concerns here too.  The best idea for a food consumer, all of us, to understand any dangers or wasteful measures resulting is to research and understand “genetically modified foods”.

lately

Pondering about new foods we see nowadays.  Recently, pickled radish was presented in a package for home usage.  It’s so pickly good.  It is often found in connection with Japanese cooking.  Wondering how to use this more.  I think adding pickled radish to any cold salad would be great.  Added to a light tuna salad maybe too.  It is great plain really.  The best just by itself.  Try it.  I haven’t found it in local grocery stores yet, only international stores, government bases.

sensical food choices

If an extremely obese person is unable to walk, yet has excessive junk food brought to him or her, who is more responsible?  If it were an alcoholic or drug addict, the person supplying the drink or any kind of drug is often considered a pusher.  Sometimes we have to take care of another person by going against what is desired in food choices.  Even with a child we often must do this, candy and soda requests for example.  A child of course desires the sweetness of this pleasurable food.  Parental and family responsibility must be pursued for the greater good.

food allergy thoughts

Allergies to foods are running rampant.  Seems to be showing up all over.  The cause of the food allergies are numerous, including genetics, chemicals in foods and environment, diseases.  There are a plethora of ideas to help combat food allergies.  Strong education is important for any family which includes someone who has allergies.  Recipe books specific to food allergies are a great source for substitution suggestions.  Recently, at a local market, I found a spice section that sold arrow root powder. I was impressed and thankful that these substitutions for common food allergies are becoming easier to find.  This and the vegetarian bistro at the market were both good options if wheat free or dairy free is what is needed.  Keep a look out.

SEASONINGS galore!!!

I am thankfully finding some great seasoning options while perusing through the madness of what we call grocery shopping.  Lemon and lime juices are always good, but salsa and “seafood cocktail” sauce are super tasty and super low in calories.  A real find….

such nerve!!!!

I cannot believe that Coco Cola is raising it’s soda prices.  What a slap in the face to the drinkers of this useless beverage.   How can such a cheap quality, low nutritional valued product even suggest that more money should be given to them?  Isn’t it ever enough take?  A higher price demands a better quality product. Rise up and save your money.  Drink water instead.

high carb heavy breakfast is getting a high five

It seems the high carb breakfast might be promoted as a weight loss good choice.  Seems it has been in research touted as having helped with hunger and less cravings for high carb rest of the day.  I don’t know all the details yet, but calories are calories and there has to be environmental issues addressed.  Like, was exercise exactly same amongst all participants?  History of exercise, previously, must be known.  In a diabetic environment, high carb isn’t great.  Endocrinologists will have to be made aware of insulin changes if a person were to high carb a breakfast.

oy, allergies

Such issues we have.  Weight and food costs and salmonella poisoning are just the beginning.  Here’s one that we must figure out a bit more clearly: FOOD ALLERGIES.  The types of food allergies are similar to the types of options in a big box grocery store, endless. Some allergies to food can sadly be deadly, but others may just cause annoying reactions.  Itchy skin or gross stomach rumbles and reactions do occur.  What to do?  Here’s just a simple suggestion to get things started.  AVOID the food believed to be an issue for one to two weeks.  Skip it.  Don’t let it sneak into your body in any way, not by mouth or nose.  Know mixed foods the allergen might be used, because they too are off limits.  Try to find out other names the food industry uses for that product.  The industry can be tricky.  Keep notes.  Are the symptoms gone?  What makes food allergies so common these days? Will the industry take note and make amends or will they go about their business making more business for themselves?  Educate yourself.

Basal metabolic rate

This is a big word.  It’s sometimes called BMR.  I’d think Burn Me Rate makes it more clear what BMR means.  Its the burning rate of energy for just the vital parts.  In tune, “burn me burn me, work this body, work this bodeeee……..”   Medicine defines these parts very specifically and can be understood in great detail.  It’s really like sleeping and cooking on simmer. That’s good, the body’s supposed to be working this way.  A “burn me rate” or basal metabolic rate fluctuates.  Say that ten time, whew!.   It goes up and down in interesting waves.  Up with foxy muscles and down with stressors and previously eaten foods and liquids.   So when a basal metabolic rate number is given, it means all of this and then some.    Really, it makes sense that if you consume less than this number of calories in meals and drinks and grab and go’s daily, the body will require more energy just to hang out.  Thus…..”burn me burn me, work this body, work this bodeeee……..”, a good path to be on if weight loss is necessary.
